The day faded into the night and then the night turned to
day. Beth awoke to find Captain Rad still clutching her
tightly. His shivering had all but stopped.
Occasionally his arm over her hip convulsed and he rubbed
his stubbly cheek against her soft one. Gently she took his
arm and removed it from her. She rolled over, careful not
to pull the blankets from him, and got to her feet. Crossing
the tent she turned up the heating unit before she left.
The Captain was nice. He was also very handsome.
She knew that he got hot, and maybe even blushed a little
when he had returned her kiss. That was the only reason she
had to believe that he did like her. Otherwise his behaviour
might have seemed a little cold. Other than the first
lustful look at them he seemed totally indifferent to her soft
heavy breasts. Most men couldn't keep their hands off of
them, particularly when she offered to be as close to them as she
had the Captain.
Beth wondered why the Captain had shown no interest.
Was it because he had no interest in a lowly d-bee?
Was it because he was being gentlemanly? Was it
because she was there in his bedroll on orders from the General?
Or was it because he had been seriously ill? She
wished that she had asked him while she had had his attention.
She knew why she hadn't asked. She had spoken to the
man with the shiny robot. It had not gone well. He
hadn't yell, or used bad words, or pushed or hit her but he had
certainly hurt her with his
